Volunteering isn't just for the adults!

As girls progress in their Girl Scout Leadership Experience they can take on a mentoring role for younger Girl Scouts.  Program Aide, Counselor-In-Training, and Volunteer-In-Training all help guide older Girl Scouts on their leadership paths.

If you would like to request a training in your area please contact, Laura Force, Camp & Series Leadership Executive, lforce@gswestok.org or by phone: 405-528-GIRL.

PROGRAM AIDE (PA)

Program Aid is an great opportunity for older Girl Scouts to learn and develop leadership

Cadette Girl Scouts are eligible for this leadership opportunity.

Girl Scouts may become a Program Aide by:

1.) Earning one LIA award.  LIA(Leader In Action) is outlined in the Girls Guide to Girl Scouting Handbook.  It is an award for assisting a younger Girl Scout group earn one of their journeys.  Please note, these hours do not count toward PA hours.  After completion girls earn a LIA patch particular to the journey they helped with.

2.) Attend a PA training.  There are two parts to the training, Core, and Modules. Each girl     must complete Core training, 6 hours and at least one module, 3 hours.  The Core training covers how to work with younger girls, how to plan activities, and leadership skills. The modules specialize in a certain pathway.  For an example they could specialize in Troop, or Camp.  After completion of at least one module girls earn their PA pin.

3.) Work a total of 25 hours as a PA.  After completion of hours girls earn the PA patch.

Note: Girls may earn their LIA after they take PA training, and can start working on their hours before they take a module training.
