The Troop Pathway is one of the ways girls can become involved with scouting. Troops give girls the opportunity to meet on a regular basis with the same group of people. They are led by troop leaders and assistant troop leaders. All leaders have had background checks previous to their appointment. They also go through extensive training, including first aid and CPR, to learn how to be the best troop leader possible. Troop location, size, age of girls in the troop, meeting locations and frequency of gathering vary as much as the girls who are involved.

Is your troop/group interested in becoming a part of the Sudden Opportunities of Service (SOS) Crew? Service can include exciting media and civic appearances, disaster relief efforts, council events, flag ceremonies, and other events and activities. Click Here for more information or to become a part of the SOS.

What Is Girl Scouts?

A girl-led,  fun, vibrant group who welcomes everyone. We understand how difficult it can be to raise a happy and healthy child with all the negative messages girls face in the world today. Girl Scouts is the positive response to those messages. GS-West is committed to providing quality service to its membership and to helping all girls:

  •          Improve their decision-making ability,
  •          Increase their self-esteem,
  •          Appreciate diversity and individuality, and
  •          Contribute to their community,

Our unique all-girl environment affords the perfect setting to help girls achieve all of their goals in life — through specialized programs, activities, community service and mentorship.

How much does it cost to join?
Girl Scouts costs $12 for Annual Membership (scholarships are available to those who qualify).
Optional Uniform & Troop Items (approximate cost):
     $25 for sash and pins.
$25 for Girls  Guide to Girl Scouts and/or $12 Journey book.
Additional fees may be charged for outings or when participating in
special Girl Scout events or camps.

Do I have to be in a troop?
No. Through Pathways, you can participate in travel, series, virtual, camp, troop or events. You pick how much or how little you want to participate. Through these opportunities, girls can still be introduced to the Leadership program!

If I do join a troop, when, where and how long are the meetings?
Each leader sets the troop meeting dates and times, as well as the location. Most troops meet once a week, for about one hour. They are usually held at a school or a local church.

What Is Expected Of Parents/Guardians?
To help your daughter get the most out of Girl Scouts, please get involved. Help build girls of Courage, Confidence, and Character by being a mentor, troop leader, troop helper, event coordinator, join a committee or just volunteer for a one-time thing!
