Juliette Low Leadership Society

Discover, connect and take action - Girl Scouts encourages girls to reach for their highest potential. In the 1920's Juliette Low, the founder of Girl Scouts, took a bold move by telling the world girls can do more. She sold her pearls to support this movement and today, there are more than 4 million Girl Scouts in the United States.

Through the Juliette Low Leadership Society, we are working to reach every girl in western Oklahoma and help them to become leaders of courage, confidence and character! This group shares the message of the positive influence that Girl Scouts makes in the life of a girl, while garnering financial support for enhanced opportunities for our girls.

What began as a small but dedicated group of women leaders in the metro has turned into a growing membership of strong leaders who are making a difference in the lives of girls. To date, the JLLS Metro (through sponsorship support of the annual luncheon and membership dues) has raised over $850,000 in just five years. Membership in the JLLS Metro begins at $250 a year which supports a girl for a year in Girl Scouting.

Mom of NBA Superstar To Be 2011 JLLS Speaker

Lucille O'Neal will share her public battle and personal struggles as a young, single mother of NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal, at the JLLS Luncheon on Thursday, February. 17, 2011 at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. As Lucille candidly describes in her new book, "Walk Like You Have Somewhere To Go", the pain of being an outcast and the stigma of becoming an unwed, teenage mother.

She married and had three more children, and later in life went to college and earned a Master's Degree. She is now a motivational speaker and encourages girls in particular to overcome obstacles in life to find success.
